I have tried to open the job at translation tab. However I found no document with 145044. I probably miss something, since this is my first assignment in Translia. Could you please advise?
When one translator does the translation, another translator is required to review the translation then set the status to Ready to Commit. The reason is that the process is Translation + Editing.
And it's important to change the status correctly and timely so we can tell the client the actual progress of the job, the client can close the job earlier once finished and translators get paid earlier. So Translator Guide for more details pls.
I believe it's impossible one task is translated by two translators, no matter the second is called to contribute. It could cause double interpretations. In my experience, one fine job from a translator can be messed up by an editor after his/her touch of the translation, since the editor is less experienced. There should be a special category, based on skill and experience, if someone is positioned as editor or reviewer.
I get confused with translia's system in providing a translation.
I agree with you that sometimes editors may bring errors during editing (everyone makes mistake :-), while as a whole they still improve the translation quality. That's why most clients insist that the translation should be translated + edited (or even translated + edited + proofread) before delivery and we give clients the options: different process.
Thanks my friend to address me. You have such a great comment, I do appreciate.
To Yolanda,
The clients needs a translation agent/freelancer because they need help. As service provider, we must conclude/presume at the worst scenario that the clients don't know how to translate well (that's why they are asking for help).
There are two things. First, If we provide some options as the translation, then I think the clients need somebody else to decide which one the best, since there are several edited translations (maybe sentence(s), maybe phrase(s) maybe word(s)). If I were the client, I will not assign this agent/freelancer to translate my document, because the result is not final (one fine translation).
Second, about the editor/reviewer. If every translator can serve as reviewer, it will be a holocaust I think. Translia must select among its translators who can serve as editor/reviewer. And, then from this group, any editor can edit translation from a translator. That will be one level higher checking. And, I guarantee the result is better because the translation is now edited by more qualified/experience translator. You can imagine, otherwise, a translation by a qualified translator being edited by new translator.
Those all to share with you. May it be something useful.
Thanks.
On Translia, clients decide the translation process so as to meet the quality, cost and time requirements. They have three options and for each option, there is only one final translation.
Halo Lex, pa kabar nih? Sistem translia memang unik bro..jd hasil terjemahan ngga bisa langsung selesai 100% tapi harus kerjasama tim minimal 2 org lah, seorang translator hanya bisa sampai status need proofreading saja, dan untuk selanjutnya dikonfirmasi oleh orang lain sampai status ready to commit..kalau sebuah terjemahan sudah semua statusnya ready to commit artinya sudah selesai sehingga bisa mendapat bayaran..justru menurut sy sistem translia cukup bagus.. beberapa kata di job (yg sy terjemahkan) ini belum berstatus ready to commit, tolong dicek dan dijadikan status ready to commit.. thanks..
Hello Alex, how are you? Translia has unique system bro.. so translation results cannot finished 100% by one person, but it needs team work, minimum from 2 persons. One person only can translate and change status to "need proofreading", and it must be confirmed, checked and changed status to "ready to commit" by other person ..if one translation has all "ready to commit" status, it means this job is finish. I think translia has unique system..and it better than other translation services because it need team work..
Several words in this job still don't has status "ready to commit", please check my translation and make it become "ready to commit" status...thanks..
