Time Delay in receiving comments

I find when working on a project with other translators, it seems to take ages for them to receive and respond to suggestions made in comment box. Likewise, I know I am not receiving their comments very rapidly either. Is there any way to improve this?

I think the comment system is

I think the comment system is fine as it is. When I need a response quickly, I use the "Broadcast" system to contact everyone working on the project. You could try sending them all a message and asking them to look at your comments, how about that?

If we use Broadcast all the

If we use Broadcast all the time, what is the point of having the Comment box? Also with Broadcast you cannot see the record of what has been said and not everybody replies to Broadcast. If it is a "conversation" which may have back and forth discussion and cogitation, I don't think Broadcast is the platform for this. Comment box is fine because it deals directly with the segment in hand and everybody working on the project can pitch in. It just needs to work faster or more directly, because you can be held up for an opinion or answer before moving the segment forward.

You misunderstand. I'm not

You misunderstand. I'm not talking about using Broadcast instead of Comments but in addition to it, to direct attention to particular comments or segments. If you comment on a segment and wait a while and no one's responding, there's nothing wrong with contacting everyone by Broadcast.

Yes, sure Kank. I have done

Yes, sure Kank. I have done that in the past, but usually just when a job is getting near the deadline. You are right - it's another avenue to go through. We need a "nudge" button like MSN!!!!

I totally agree. It takes

I totally agree. It takes much too long to receive the "updates" in our emails. And in addition, I know I don't receive them all, only the ones which = reply to my previous comment. I suggest that receiving ALL comments which relate to a translation on which we have worked would be much more productive. Or even (if this is simpler) an automated msg, something like "a comment was posted on job xxx on which you worked".

I don't know if it is

I don't know if it is feasible, but it would be so useful to have a direct chat feature on a segment under discussion to be able to wrap it up quickly. As it stands, some suggestions/queries go unanswered because the other parties haven't seen them quickly enough and have left their computer or gone offline.

chat functionality

I'll second that as it will also give us the possibility of sharing our thoughts about the choice of one particular term over another...

Not sure

Not sure that a chat feature would do the trick here, Belier.

Simply, quicker receipt of all comments would do the job, in my opinion. I see a chat as a potential for long-winding arguments, confusion as to which segment is/was/has been discussed, and, for me personally anyway, as a distraction. Not that your idea isn't good - I see where you're trying to go = better efficiency in translator communication. But, again, I think quicker access to ALL comments of jobs we are working on would be all that is needed. Let's see what Team Translia has to say.

I see where you are coming

I see where you are coming from - a chat could turn into a "social" so would need to be monitored, but I think it would be less confusing regarding the segment. How I envisaged it, the chat would be attached to a specific segment like the Edit. I find now it is confusing when the e-mail comes through, especially if you are working on more than one project and there are several translators working on the job. Any form of more direct/rapid communication would be an improvement

Am not a big fan of chats

Am not a big fan of chats myself. As I see it, it might even be more confusing to scroll up and down the chat to see what has been discussed at the moment you elect to have a look at the chat (we're not all online translating at the same time, as you well know of course). For now, I think the comment feature is the best option, although, again, I agree that (for some unknown reason to me), the comments take much too long to arrive in my mail box.

I have a question regarding

I have a question regarding comments. If I write a comment, then the job closes. Are the other translators who worked on the job still able to read/receive the comments? (this can be useful because sometimes you need to make a last minute decision, the others are offline, but you still want to notify them of your choice or thank them for their suggestion etc.). Simply put, are all comments eventually sent to all translators who worked on the job, regardless of the fact that the job is closed? Thank you (an merry x-mas!)
