I forgot, I translate from English to Spanish.

I work as a part-time translator for English-Chinese and vice versa and Japanese to Chinese as well as Japanese to English in technical and engineering fields.

Hi to all Medica lTranslators

My name is Grace. I'm a certified Spanish to English Medical Interpreter and have been working as a Medical Translator for about 4 years. I'm an American citizen but my husband is retired and we have been living in Uruguay now for 3 years. We lived in Costa Rica for 1 year. We were both English second language teachers in the US before my husband retired. I am 10 years younger than him and I don't have a retirement so I am working to make some extra spending money. I also work as a translator for SpeakLike. I haven't seen any medical texts on Translia yet in the 2 years or so since I signed up. I hope they will receive some because I rally like working with pharmaceutical terminology and medical technical work such as translating ultrasound users guides. That's my passion and what I'm best at.

Nancy Bradyusa

I interpret and translate in Arabic and English, Arabic and French, French and English. I work social security cases, medical terms, social science and art.

Background

Well! background(s) would be better. I am the only child of my parents. I am a graduate in Engineering. I am from India. Right from early school days, I had been taught to understand all aspects of a language, viz. as a means of communication, conversation, reading, writing, understanding, interpreting and expressing. Language has no limits, the more one learns, the more he craves for more. One learns every moment. This is the spirit with which one must live. I am very fond of reading. My interests are varied.
I get translation jobs for following language groups
English-Gujarati and vice versa
English- Hindi and vice versa
Gujarati-Hindi and vice versa
Sanskrit-English
Sanskrit-Gujarati
Sanskrit-Hindi
This is my first communication in and with Translia. Hope to have many more in future. Thank you

Hi, I'm new

in this group, I'm Italian and a freelancer since 2000 translating from English and French to Italian. I worked for several individuals in a wide range of fields, from tourism to psychology. My favourites, though not much asked for: criminology and forensic science.

New on this site saying hi

Hi Nancy,
I have been translating documents pertaining to alternative health from French to English and English to French (Canada). This domain is blooming in Canada and everything has to be at least in French to be on the shelf in Québec.

I have a translation certificate with a medical specialty. I also have a degree in environmental science and diplomas in food science. I mainly joined this group out of curiousity. Apart from the Spanish-English glossary posted on this forum, there isn't many discussion about translation. they might be on the actual job sites, which I haven't go the chance to see yet.

Enjoy your day,

Jessica C.

oops! I actually forgot to

oops! I actually forgot to mention my background..lol
Well, I studied Communications and Law at university and then I moved to Belgium because of my husband's job and there I studied Jewelry. Because of my constant moving from country to country I was able to develop great skills as a translator. I have done translations from the Medical area (medicines, user's manual to machines to vaccination), Military, NGO's, Tourism and Travel (did a lot for hotels in Asia wheN I lived there), children pedagogy and, of course, lots and lots of legal documents (did a lot for fellow brazilians around the world where I have lived, when they needed something for consulate documentation, visas, etc).

Cheers,
Thereza

newcomer

Hi, I just joined this site last week and I'm trying to understand how it works, how to "upgrade" this ranking thing. If anyone has any input I'd appreciate. I've been translating for 20 years but up to now I have never thought about living on it... until I was on vacation and I did some translations to friends family in Italy and made enough money to enjoy even more my vacation...lol.... after that I haven't stopped translating seriously and now here I am! I read the posts on this group and everyone seems very friendly. Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Lucky to translate in my field

I feel lucky! I translate tech docs and docs related to aeronautics and that is where I have the most expertise so I am very lucky. I can do other subjects but find them much more difficult and time consuming. I must count my blessings!

Hearing about your backgrounds is very interesting as it gives me ideas on areas to look at for projects. There are so many industries that could do more translations but don't for whatever reason. I am trying to get into these areas and open them up!

Dear All, I am also not a

Dear All, I am also not a linguist. I am a Biomedical Engineer and my expertise is in the medical and health and medical device fields. Cheers! Ramiro

Medical and health

Hi ramiropozzo;
We are glad that you are here. It will be good to have backup in health related fields for translating. Cheers.

Hi Nancy, Well, I am not

Hi Nancy,
Well, I am not linguist, I am biologist and that is supposed to be my background but I have never translated a word having to do with Biology or any related theme. I have translate a lot on infrastructure or oil and gas or generalities. But I use to receive a lot on general health care.
Hope I answered your requirement.
Regards,
Claudia

biology

I really don´t understand why you haven´t translated biology themes?

Dina

Well, nothing having to do

Well, nothing having to do with Biology has ever appear, the closest I have got is nutrition, so if you ever find something that might interest me just let me know.

Biologist

Wow that is interesting. I bet you have some skills you are not using !! What kind of work do you do in biology?

Biochemist

Hi, me too, I have a degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry and rarely get any scientific tasks.....

Yes I know I could translate

Yes I know I could translate in other topics but nothing comes out. I work in aquaculture growing shrimps.

Urban geography

Hi Nancy

my background's in tourism. But most of my translation work is only 15% tourism, rest are bills, legal docs, user manuals....very commercial use.

How you doing?

Best regards

Su

Tourism

Thanks for the info Su - I have a question. Would you do more in tourism if there was more business for it or do you prefer the other subjects?

Good question

Nancy, it will be our pride and joy to translate jobs that we are so familiar with but I think most of us do a lot of commercial & industry stuff that may not be related to our expertise. However, we could be the best 'guru' to refer to when some translation jobs require terminologies only we, can understand.
It is something we all have to live with, improvise for the sake of translation. Given our background experience, I believe we are getting better as each translation job is completed.
That's why we need this platform to share and help each other out!
Cheers !

Good question

Yes, and fortunately this site is a good place to share opinions.
