Here I'd like to share with you all how to get the excellent translation by making good use of Translia system.

1. Read the clients' instruction firstly before translation, as always. You can see the clients instruction either in Instruction, or in Job comment by clicking View tab after opening a job.

2. Read the comments of other translators before translation. All the comments (we call them as Segment Comment) are listed under Comments tab of the job.

3. Don't leave your translation comment in the translation as an explanation to your translation. It may become a critical mistake if the clients don't know the language or don't see it or delete it before publishing. Use Segment Comment instead.

4. Use Segment Comment should you have pending translation issues and want to get the attention of other translators. Other translators of the same job can always see your comments and give response if needed.

5. Use Broadcast for immediate response from other translators if needed. Other translators of the same job (at the time you send out the broadcast) will recieve an email from you through Translia. But this is not saved and only these translators can see your message.

6. Process the tags properly. You may see tags such as <1></1> or <2></2> in some segments. For some tags, they always come as a pair of tags - for example font size, font color, hyperlinks; for some only one - index and anchor tags for example. Pls keep these tags intact during your translation as they represent various formats in the source, such as font color, font size, superscript, paragraph style, hyper link and so on. If you think certain format should be not used in your translation, you can just keep the tags with no text in between them. For example:

<1>The Soo’s advantageous location made it a very important place during the </1><2>18</2><3>th</3><4> century.</4>
In your translation, it may be:
<1>The Soo’s advantageous location made it a very important place during the </1><2>18th</2><3></3><4> century.</4>

(Here <3></3> means superscript, but the format is not kept in the target translation because it's not correct in the target translation)

Important
All tags should be kept in the target file;
During the translation, you can change the sequence of each pair of tags to ensure the tag and translation are correct;
All content including space and punctuation must be included within a pair of tags, otherwise they will be lost;

7. Process the broken source properly. On Translia, like many translation tools, the source is segmented into many peices (usually on a sentence basis for better TM performance). But sometimes a complete sentence may be divided into 2 or even more segments and makes the translation a little difficult. In this case, please get the complete translation of the divided segments that should be merged, then put part of translation in the first segment and the rest in the second. Then we will get the correct translation finally. No need to ensure the source and translation are exactly match if a fluent translation can't be organized.

8. Search for consistency. If you find some term, phrase or sentence is not translated consistently and want to find out all to revise them. It's easy. Use the filters such as Source and Target, enter the content to search and click Apply.
