We plan to have another site Translia.org for free jobs and open source community projects. So, why not so many paid jobs?
First, we need more clients;
Secondly, we need more satisfied clients. While translators want to get more jobs, clients of Translia want to get timely delivery. From the job record, I know that some of Translia clients experienced delay and usually they need spend extra time and effort to push translators finish the jobs - sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. It makes them not so happy. Dear translators, we need you to get each job finished on time and before the deadline. At the same time, Translia wants to take strong action to avoid it in future since half-done translation is useless to clients. For example, none get paid if the job is not completed on time.
Thirdly, Translia needs to be easier for clients use. The preconceptions from the traditional translation experience result in that more time is needed for client to understand and know how to use Translia. We are working on it now, and your support/suggestion is welcome since we need to build Translia together!
Perhaps you ought to screen your translators better. Knowing a foreign language above high school level doesn't qualify one to be a translator.
Clients, of course, can't verify the quality of the translations, cause if they could ..they wouldn't be needing a translator in the 1st place, so they go with the cheapest rates since all translatos' profiles promise the best performance on the planet!
Bad translators are ruining it for everybody..

Thank you for the suggestion, Engin!
On Translia, translator rank is one of the solutions to keep good translators and wash out the not-so-good ones, or drive them to be the good ones too. As a result, higer-rank translators have more power than lower-rank ones.
