Low volume of translation jobs

Hi community,
I have a question I believe it interests us all.I feel that during the last few months the volume of translation jobs available for freelancers on different websites is far below usual.Do you think the world economic crisis is a cause or a fcator in this???

on the web and speaking of localization.........the need to Arabic language is increasing greatly .......simply only Arabs (gulf area) who possess big capitals.

yes, I agree with you,it seems a lot more translators are available now on line to do freelancing.This may explain
as for self-introduction.I am a freelancer living in Canada for the past 5 years.I have been doing translations for agencies for the past 3 years,preceded by 7 years as a full time job in a corporation in Egypt,preceded by 6 yeras as medical translator and interpreter.that is it

I got into translation by accident while still in college, I was doing my On-Job-Training in one office then saw an ad for Arabic translator posted by another office in the same floor, I happened to know Arabic so I thought why not try and see, I've passed the exam and interview.

Now here I am, It's been 7years now and I'm loving it, Arabic language is my passion now.

and to answer your question, i think it's not the volume of work that has been shrinking rather it's the number of translators that is growing over the internet in the past few years.
