Translia evolves constantly. Among those coming changes, this one requires additional support from your side:
We will remove Subjects field from Translator Profile. For indicating the subjects/fields you work with, please join relevant groups like Legal Translation.
The Subject field will be disabled and then removed. The data you input will be lost. We awfully sorry for that and your kind cooperation will be appreciated!
The ideas behind this change include
- With Subject field, different words might be used for the same thing. For example, web translation and web site translation. That makes it difficult to use the subject data. Groups work this around because they are maintained by the community.
- With Subject field, members who work in the same field don't know each other at all. With groups, members of common interest are brought together and they can interact with each other.
- We will allow clients to choose translators by group for their jobs, either public or private jobs. For example, we may say, "Only WTT members may work on Translia translation jobs"; The clients may say, "Only Legal Translation group members may work on this contract translation job".
In short, groups will play an important role in handling subject matters. Please help us and help yourself by
- joining groups that reflect subjects you have expertise or are interested in.
- creating new groups if you don't find your subjects.
