Some of members already get a rank higher than 1. Congratulations!

If your rank is still 1, no worry: You will get higher rank as you receive client rating and colleague endorsement. Also, be patient - the rank calculation is not in real time.

Here I would like to give a bit more explanation.

1) The rank is a relative measurement. That means, if a member keeps his/her performance (rating/endorsement/kudos/activity) unchanged while all other members improve, his/her rank will decrease, and vice versa. It is different from an "absolute" measurement like certification, which is solely based one's own performance.

2) The rank is dynamic. System recalculates ranking on a daily basis or more frequently sometimes. So your rank would change day to day.

To answer TRANS2009's question in another thread, you can improve the rank by improve client rating/ colleague endorsement/ Kudos/ and activity. That's not a secret since the Guide include the tips.

why should my rank be changed?

Hi, Vic
I'm a freelancer, interested in translation from Eng. to Chn. or vice versa. I like this website Translia and often come here to learn something new. After I failed to find any paid job, I started to take some free community jobs. I contributed 12333 to Omegatplus 108016 and was ranked 9. I am so happy with that, though no money gained. So I am working harder on Omegatplus 102061 and finished 6056 upto now, but today I suddenly found that my rank is 8, I am unreasonably lowered. I also saw that some others was ranked 8 with contribution of 1000 or so. What's the logics for it? Is this a cycle that when you reach a higher rank, the more you work, the lower rank you deserve? I am really in the fog. Please tell me what is this all about before I quit this place. Thanks

Could you please explain the exact mechanism by which the rank value changes?
I also reached rank 9 but suddenly was lowered to 8 with no explanations.
