Client rating released

Good news to good translators (and probably bad to bad ones :) -- Now clients can rate translators by giving one to five stars, which indicate Very poor, Poor, Okay, Good, and Very good respectively. See http://www.translia.com/node/115527.

That's another important move in building a system that awards the qualified translators and washes out the unqualified.

How to get client rating?

Hi, Vic
I've been here for about 10 weeks and learned a lot. I have been working hard on some free community jobs since I see no chance of getting any paid ones. I am happy to contribute here. Yet what puzzles me is how to get client rating. When I finish the translation of one segement, I click on "ready to commit" if I think no modification is needed, and "need proofreading" when I am not sure of its exactness, wishing someone comes to neccessary revision. Then who will do the evaluation of my translation and how should I know the result: is it of good or bad quality? what improvement should I make? I am still not so clear with your rating rules. Thanks a lot.

Taking paid jobs

Nice you brought the questions. As the Guide indicated, clients can give ratings only when they post paid jobs. At this point translators cannot get rating for taking free translation jobs. Taking paid jobs is the only method to get client ratings.

However your efforts pay. If you have a look at this page http://www.translia.com/dir/chinese_translators, you will find you are one the top among Chinese translators. You couldn't be there if you don't contribute to those jobs.

To give more awards to the members who contribute free translation like you, we plan to give Kudos points for doing free translation. That will improve your rank finally. I will give a note when that feature is released.
