SEGMENT REVISIONS, NUMBER OF EDITS AND POINTS EARNED

Thank you for helping me and probably others get a clearer view of segment work at Translia.

You claim all those who either translate or edit / proofread a segment get paid, fair enough.
I still find it hard to fathom how a job creator can afford to pay for a great number of successive versions / editions of the same given segment of a job from the moment it first get published to the moment it gets closed.
Say a job stays open for one week. Segment A of the job gets translated / edited / proofread 3 times a day, that's 21 times payment for segment work is due (on this very single A segment)
Which client will want to invest in something like this ?
And if not, is it then Translia's crusade to lose money on excess work just to humor all the happy-go-lucky contributors ?
It simply doesn't figure.
So there must be some kind of policy we still don't know of, according to which accepted versions of a segment bring about more payable points to their authors than discarded ones (if those are payable at all)

Additionally, not being able to see how many points one earns by working on a segment is rather disturbing.
First we're told at the the entry "getting payed" that the earned points account balance only shows from 10 000 points collected onwards ( = 100 USD)
Then we check the columns on the job page, displaying :
1) fairly left, the rate, word count and thus fee (no problem there)
2) at the right, the number of edits made (problem there)
As it turns, I have been hard working at revising 3 paid jobs created by Yolanda Tan as a client, and already performed over 10 000 edits.
Strangely enough, my earned points account balance still doesn't show any points.
So :
- either this confirms what I suspect, namely that one "edit" doesn't bring about one point, but less (if not nothing)
- or it means that I will have to wait until the closing of the job in more than one week to see my earned points displayed on my account balance,
- or any unknown combination of both.
Perhaps discarded edits just don't count as "point builders".

Some light shed on this unsettling situation wouldn't harm.
Attracting qualified resources starts here I think.

Thank you for your good questions! They are really helping more and more understanding how Translia works.

I just changed the status of a proofreading job from Open to Closed so you can go through a complete project cycle. And I would like to take this chance to thank you and all others for your hard work - I wish that I could close it earlier but it needs time to go through all your editing and decide if to accept it :-)

Back to your questions now.
1. The cost of clients. It's published to all once a project is open, and it's fixed - total words multiply the rate per word. Only in the case that a client closes a job before it's finished, a client needn't to pay the part untranslated. We need to be fair to the clients too :-)

2. Your points. You as translator can only see your points when a job is closed since the points are based on your own contribution and other translator's contribution. It's changing with time until the job is closed. So, the better one translate/edit, the less other can revise.

3. Edits/revisions vs Points. As said above, points earned are in direct proportion to contribution not edits, so usually one "edit" doesn't bring about one point - more or less it depends. Even discarded edits can be point builders, but obviously it contributes less since there are more edits in total when others revise your translation completely and your contribution goes down. Translia is designed to encourage each translator/editor to give their best translation so their translation needn't to be changed by others. We don't welcome unwanted and useless editings and provide the feature such as "Report Abuse" so as to block such people if any. We want to build a translation community with simplified process and best quality together with you all, make translation more enjoyable for all.

Where can you report over editing abuse?

How can we go about reporting over editing abuse? In the proofreading job of the last part of the Spanish translation there has been a lot of editing, but most of the time the sentence stays the same. No visible changes.

I spend all morning proofreading the job and setting the segments from need more work to ready to commit, only to come back in the afternoon to find out that they have been revised by another translator with no visible changes in most of them. This same translator has been revising over and over the same segments, you can see it using the History Tab. At first I thought that she was improving/correcting the translations, but there are no visible changes. Does this add up to more points at the end?
