IT Translation Group

The beginning of the 21st century is marked with the rapid growth and development of information technologies (IT). The use of modern IT-solutions in the production industry has led to a noticeable increase of its efficiency and overstepped geographic boundaries. At present time information technologies permeate almost into every aspect of human life from business and education to leisure and rest. Personal computers, cell phones, fax machines and the Internet have not only become an integral part of the technical development but also play a significant role in our everyday activities, allowing countries separated by language and distance to share information and to communicate with each other.

For proofreading/Review hourly rate is how much fair?

Now days it has been a trend to offer the translator hourly rates for review or proofreading jobs. Even the rates are not satisfactory. And also doing a proofreading of 1000 words in an hour, do not you think it makes an additional pressure on the performer.

Do you think this standard practice is fair and reviewer should go for it?

Thanks
James

What is your country rate ?

Greetings all,

I was just wondering what the rate practiced in the Portuguese speaking countries looks like.

As example I'll quote the following: here in Belgium, the "minimum" rate per word in translation is 0,12 EURO (FR/PT-PT/FR), this rate climbs to 0,17 in case of sworn translation. Of course, it's an open market, the translator has final acceptance on the rates he'll work for.
